eGPU on Raspberry Pi 5 updates: 4k gaming, hardware accelerated video transcoding, and more! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-ImUnRwjAo
@geerlingguy the e is short for multiadaperjankdangle?
@yetzt Yessir!
Though it could be nice if someone made an Oculink HAT for Pi 5, would save on two adapters at least.
@geerlingguy this is very niche, not worth it
@gary_alderson @geerlingguy this is very niche, worth it
@JoMomma @geerlingguy not worth it for majority since it is so niche, good if you want to learn but practical benefits are very low, much more value to e had with refurb pc
@gary_alderson @geerlingguy "...good if you want to learn..."
@JoMomma @geerlingguy good if you want to learn and if you learn on a refurb pc then you can take advantage of pci lanes, more memory, expanability and not be kitty cornered into pi platform which is limited - has much more value and practical learning possibilities than arm. i am just sayng go for something good not limited - the principles are ok but overall it is pi spam
@gary_alderson @geerlingguy okay Gary
@JoMomma @geerlingguy i am right for the majority of users anyways - if you are just focused on pi maybe not
@gary_alderson @geerlingguy I'm sure you're right
@JoMomma @geerlingguy pi needs pi6 to move on and keep relevance - they don't show any roadmaps so how can you make a good decision with no info? just get a refurb pc like a hp g4 for less money than a pi and have a platform that meets requirements and is not kitty cornered into workarounds - i am not asking for much just reasonable value assessment
@gary_alderson @geerlingguy cool...oh look it's nice outside
@JoMomma @geerlingguy people want real world biz application after 'learning' - you don't see pi at the office - you do see tons of old hp boxes
@gary_alderson @geerlingguy I'm a people... I like pi... it's still nice outside, think I'll connect to my pizero and have it cycle my HVAC air and update my solar settings
@JoMomma @geerlingguy you are underserved
@geerlingguy Please try to run Minecraft with shaders on it!
@geerlingguy that could be a very cool #BOINC setup for GPU crunching
