Three good things for 17 Jan 1965
1. brown paper packages, tied up with strings
2. wild geese that fly (the moon on their wings)
3) silver-white winters that melt into springs ♫
Three good things for 3/17/1965
1. When no dog bites ♫
2. When no bees sting ♫
3. I'm not feel'ing sad ♫
Three good things for 3/16/1965
1. Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
2. Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
3. Silver-white winters that melt into springs
1) Kiddo passed their Wushu (Kung Fu) belt test, going from the advanced class to the Elite class (earning Red belt)
2) They got a gold stripe (excellent performance) as opposed to merely passing (black stripe). Only their second gold ever.
3) as is our tradition, we let the kid pick dinner location, and they opted for a fancy restaurant we've been to before, for special occasions, so w00t, tempting us with things we want.

#3GoodThings #ReasonsToBeCheerful today
Hired a Data Analyst to support me in our #science #research projects. I just onboarded her today and she's already started contributing!
Got a call from a student - I had supervised her summer research project on GIS mapping and policies related to water circularity in Bengaluru #India - y'all she got a job as a researcher at a university!! she's going to be training students and performing chemical analysis of Bengaluru's lakes! I'm so proud of her and it was so heart warming that she called to inform me about this!
I got invited to attend an international conference on water circularity and #sustainability at the institute where I did my PhD. feels a bit surreal that the same institute where I was once a grad student, I now get to be an invited guest and some of the speakers are my collaborators! overcoming #ImposterSyndrome one step at a time!
Can you think of three good things to make your (and everyone else's) day better?
Of course you can!
#3GoodThings for Wednesday
1. Managed to do substantial work on research grant proposal.
2. Somehow, two colleagues gave me teatime goodies today on my way back to my office from the main office. Cookies and a steamed Malay kueh!
3. Also had a very nice stuffed and grilled fish (ikan cencaru sumbat) for lunch from the group catering situation we have at the office. I was very excited for that!
#3GoodThings for Tuesday
1. I saw a rainbow in the sky on my drive home!
2. One of my PhD supervisees got a surprise award for work he did spearheading the committee for my seminar series. It's an honor for both of us!
3. Chattering with my colleagues at work. Now that I've had two weeks of mostly solitude I'm like, talking everybody's ears off and *gasp* enjoying it!
#3GoodThings for my first working #Monday of 2025
1. I got enough sleep!
2. My first day back in the office was actually quite nice despite new academic deadlines appearing in my inbox (that's a given amirite).
3. I reflected that having problems making my "favourite songs of 2024" and "favourite albums of 2024" blog posts because I loved way too many albums/songs in 2024 is a great problem to have.
The first #3goodthings post of #2025
1. I survived 2024!
2. Starting 2025 strong by hammering out one page of a new Derridean academic article + working on two chapters of #Rosemirror
3. Yummy shortbread with almonds and orange peel.

#3GoodThings for Monday
1. Had a nice day back at work (accidentally messed up my leave so I have to work the last two days of the year), chit-chatted with colleagues and worked on a Gothic Feminine (cinema) co-written article to be submitted soon.
2. Salted caramel chocolate tarts. Yum!
3. Got my leeks finally for cock-a-leekie soup. They were sold out in the other grocery stores but I managed to score them near work.

#3GoodThings
#3goodthings
1. Got a walk in this morning.
2. Made peanut butter fudge
3. Got odds and ends done, but mostly it was a lounging around day.
1. Cleared some more things off my "last workweek of 2024" to-do list, particularly the PhD dissertation chapters from my supervisees which I edited/checked this week.
2. Getting a good #classicalguitar practice session this morning means I can sleep early tonight. Inching very slowly towards being exam performance ready.
3. I remain impressed with every Cola track that I hear.
This is one of my favourites from 2024.
#3GoodThings for #Monday
1. Finished uploading (nearly) all the teaching materials and publications I did this year to the work evals database for points generation. Nearly, because I'm going to be pdf'ing all my writing process blog posts (they count as popular writing in the system) and a couple more teaching materials from this week.
2. Heavenly lunch from one of my favourite Malay restaurants that does a mean masak kampung (village-style Malay food). I cannot go without my masak kampung.
3. Feeling like I've regained some semblance of balance. The weekend was very good for me this time around.
Haven't posted much because everything I try to write comes out negative & there's enough negativity out there without me adding to it. However, I managed to come up with #3GoodThings for the #weekend !
Mom surprised me by loading & running the dishwasher AND doing some of her laundry
We got $100 groceries for $35 by successfully combining coupons, my grocery savings card, & an Instacart offer (bonus good thing- it was all delivered!)
Cleaned out the fridge, started organizing the pantry
#3GoodThings for #Friday
1. Managed to catch up on a lot of academic teaching/supervision things today. Phew! Workshop also went well.
2. Pizza! And cheesecake! (for the workshop)
3. The music of Flore Laurentienne has been one of my 2024 obsessions.
1. It's the mid-semester break! Only one day left but I took advantage of no classes + most people off on the team-building retreat to have catch-up supervision with my PhD supervisees and then had a nice little shopping trip after work, mumbling "treat yourself", to myself.
2. #DumplingsThursday today was elite! Enjoyed my chicken xiaolongbao and chrysanthemum tea at one of my favourite restaurants for teatime. And had some more dumplings for dinner!
3. It's #BandcampFriday eve for everyone who celebrates! I'm going to be getting some new music to enjoy tomorrow! (ps: if you didn't know, #Bandcamp has a phone app so you can stream the stuff you buy!)
