1. I dropped an email to my dad last night just to try to stay in touch, and ended up writing pages about the current situation and its impact on me. He already sent back an email that sounds more like the dad of my youth than he has been, recently.
2. Sign making party this afternoon for Friday 's Stand Up For Science protest. #science
3. Shangri-La Frontier and Diary of an Apothecary new episodes. That is an exuberant way to start the morning! #anime

1. Had a nice day back at work (accidentally messed up my leave so I have to work the last two days of the year), chit-chatted with colleagues and worked on a Gothic Feminine (cinema) co-written article to be submitted soon.
2. Salted caramel chocolate tarts. Yum!
3. Got my leeks finally for cock-a-leekie soup. They were sold out in the other grocery stores but I managed to score them near work.

~ Had lunch with a friend I hadn’t seen in over a year.

~ Reading together with my 17yo — he reads his book, and I read mine! (Guess I did some parenting right!)

~ Loaded my bike on the bike rack and went to Cooper River Park for a 4-mi ride. (It was 67 in SJ today!) #NewJersey #3GoodThings

Sunday, Sept 15

1. Awoke really late (not good), but today is a true fall day, 20 degrees cooler than Friday & breezy, with drifting birds & wandering clouds (all good).
2. Grandson on his way for my weekly cheer & a few honey-dos.
3. Vagabond son finally came through with pics from Glacier NP; I posted a couple under hashtag silentsunday. They’re touring the US & staying at all KOA campgrounds - pics below.

More time with dear friends visiting for the weekend;

Dinner at what had been a disused gravel lot, before it got turned into an outdoor bar by the local horticulture group. Local plantings! Trees! Pitcher plants by the bar! Outdoor seating on a wonderful summer night! Outdoor seating during a covid surge!

And outdoor time on the protected "catio" for the family cats, so they could enjoy a summer #Caturday

In ascending order of delight:

1. Panna cotta for dessert this evening

2. Played (from memory, in front of friends) Chopin's Nocturne Op 72 (posthumous) and the friends loved it and overlooked a little glitch or two

3. Elderly neighbor has recovered from a fairly serious illness and ate what we brought her with gusto! So good to see her back like herself. This is by far the best thing today.

1. Went to the movies yesterday for the first time in 5 years!
2. Inside Out 2 - enjoyed it as much as the first one!
3. Love how these 2 characters always come to the door when I'm out front watering the plants.
